Company and Position:

I am the Events & Marketing Manager at NZ Chamber of Commerce (Singapore)

Briefly describe your role.

I am responsible for overseeing the chamber's events and marketing initiatives, from planning to execution. I work closely with Tahsha, our Executive Director to develop creative concepts and strategies that promote our partners and engage our members.

What were you doing prior to joining the Chamber?

Before joining the Chamber, I worked as a communications and marketing specialist with a background in broadcast performance and film production. I have extensive experience in event management, having successfully planned and executed numerous events, from professional development conferences to community engagement initiatives.

Where were you born? What country do you call home?

I was born and raised in Singapore, and I am proud to call this vibrant city-state my home.

What do you like most about Singapore?

As a foodie, one thing I absolutely love about Singapore is its incredible food scene. From hawker centers to Michelin-starred restaurants, there is something for everyone here. I particularly enjoy exploring the local street food and trying out new dishes and flavors.

What do you do to relax?

To unwind after a busy day at work, I enjoy going on long walks and exploring new neighborhoods. I also love catching up with friends over drinks and trying out new bars and restaurants.

What's top of your bucket list?

One thing that's been on my bucket list for a while is to travel solo. I think it would be a great opportunity to challenge myself and experience new cultures in a more immersive way. NZ is on the radar now, so feel free to share your recommendations!

Favourite holiday destination?

My favourite holiday destination so far has been Korea. I love the combination of stunning natural scenery, rich cultural heritage, and delicious food. Plus, the people are incredibly friendly and welcoming.

Secret skill or talent?

One of my secret skills is special effects (SFX) makeup. I have always been fascinated by the art of makeup and transformation, and I took courses to learn how to create realistic wounds, bruises, and other effects for film and theater productions. It's a fun and creative hobby that allows me to channel my artistic side and bring characters to life through makeup.

What’s surprised you about your role at the New Zealand Chamber?

One thing that has surprised me about my role at the New Zealand Chamber is the incredible passion and dedication of our members. I have had the privilege of working with some truly amazing individuals and companies who are deeply committed to strengthening the ties between New Zealand and Singapore. It's been a real pleasure to be part of such a supportive and collaborative community.

Any last words?

As a lifelong learner, I'm always on the lookout for new experiences and opportunities to grow and develop. Whether it's trying out a new hobby, learning a new skill, or meeting new people, I believe that life is all about pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone and embracing the unknown. So my advice to anyone reading this is to always stay curious and never stop exploring the world around you!
