Background
The trade war between China and the U.S. is now well truly underway. Both sides continue to lob threats of new and increased tariffs on each other’s goods. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has warned that the rising trade tensions between the US and the rest of the world could cost the global economy US$430bn. While impact is relatively modest, a potential broad-based slowdown in global trade, if escalation of the trade conflict continues, could significantly impact Singapore’s open economy.
This session, therefore, aims to provide Singapore companies practical insights on how to mitigate the current challenges of the international trade war by re-looking at their current supply chain, exploring alternative markets for their business, and leveraging on Singapore free trade agreements (FTAs) to increase competitive edge and gain better market access overseas.
