Liz McAuliffe

Briefly what is your role? I have two roles; I am the Asia Pacific Talent Leader for Deloitte’s Consulting business and also work to support our AP Chief Talent Officer to execute our broader Asia Pacific Talent strategy.

Any advice for doing business in Singapore and/or the region? Embrace the food! Luckily, I had been given this advice before arriving in Singapore and made the most of getting to know my teams and stakeholders through some amazing meals all-around South-East Asia. Food is a common love across Singapore and being interested in learning about the culture through food has helped to establish effective relationships.

When did you move to Singapore? Where from? My husband, two kids and I moved to Singapore in January 2017 from Melbourne, Australia and my kids are the 5th generation of my family to live in Singapore.

Where were you born? What country do you call home? I was born in Sydney and was an expat kid myself, while I now call Melbourne, Australia home, I will always identify as a proud kiwi!

What do you like most about Singapore? I love the food (see above), the proximity to travelling to all corners of the world and the easy lifestyle of living in an eternal summer.

What do you do to relax? When the borders are open, travel is top of the list including a love for photographing everything I see & eat (there is a theme here). Over the last two years exploring all corners of the little red dot has been a pretty good replacement with some amazing photograph opportunities to be found, right on our doorstep.

What's top of your bucket list? I have been very fortunate to travel a lot in my lifetime, but next on the bucket list is a trip to France to show my kids a little more of Europe, which is just that little bit closer to get to from Singapore!

Why did you join the New Zealand Chamber (Singapore) and what do you like most about it? I joined the NZ Chamber to maintain my connection with the Kiwi community in Singapore, it has been great to be able to participate in NZ cultural events (pre-COVID) something my kids would never have got had we still been in Melbourne. I love the true Kiwi “one-degree-of-separation” and meeting like minded Kiwis who are seeing the world and showcasing NZ at the same time.

Any last words? I feel really positive about 2022 and am excited about the re-connection of NZ to Singapore and the rest of the world and the opportunities this will bring for further collaboration between the two countries.
