In September, Jenny Morel and Dr Vivienne Hunt, current President of the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce, led a delegation of women from NZ Global Women to Singapore and Malaysia.
While in Singapore, the delegation seized every opportunity to get a glimpse into what makes Singapore tick. Highlights included visits to key Singaporean institutions such as the National Museum of Singapore and the Housing Development Board – this one was particularly inspiring to people concerned about housing in New Zealand. Followed with talks by the ANZ economist and the Economic Development board, a visit to A-Star and lunch with Dr Kanwaljit Soin, the first woman Member of Parliament in Singapore!
Then it was on to 90 Seconds, a successful NZ tech company based in Singapore, headed by Tim Norton, and Trouble Brewing, a boutique brewery founded by a dynamic kiwi, Joe Barratt. Both companies provided the delegation with a great look into how NZ companies are setting up in Singapore to drive their business in the region.
Finally, a wonderful reception hosted by H.E. NZ High Commission Dr Jonathan Austin at the Residence, saw the delegation making connections with over 50 women leaders from across Singapore.
