My family and I have lived in Singapore for two years; my two boys are at UWC East and my wife Pam works for NZTE. We are here because I was transferred to Singapore with my employer Accor Hospitality.

My current role is General Manager of Sales and Marketing for the Fairmont Singapore and Swissotel the Stamford. The complex has just over 2,000 5-star Hotel rooms, 14 F&B outlets and largest Hotel Convention Centre in Singapore.

I have more than 18 years General Management experience across multiple countries, markets, customer segments and hotel brands. I specialise in bringing cultural and financial change to businesses to deliver a deliver strong long-term results for key stakeholders.

I have held positions on a variety of commercial and advisory boards in the New Zealand accommodation and hospitality industry where I have represented the interests of members, local government, government and iwi.

Like many industries, we are experiencing interesting and challenging times in hospitality and tourism no matter where you are in the world. Singapore has its own unique challenges with very little domestic hotel market. Where there is a challenge, there is an opportunity and the current environment has enabled me to push for change in the way we sell and market to both domestically and internationally. I have been able to deploy innovations that would have taken much longer to get traction with stakeholders had we been in a business as usual environment.

Outside work I enjoy exploring Singapore by bike with my family - living on the East Coast makes that easy. Singapore is such a great spot for families and we still have so much to see and do over the years ahead. I also enjoy a glass of decent New Zealand wine when I can get my hands on it.
