Matthew Palmer

Matthew Palmer is an Associate Director, Operational Risk at ANZ, based in Singapore. With more than 15 years of experience across New Zealand, Australia, and Singapore, he has built a diverse career spanning frontline banking, risk management, governance, and assurance. Matthew has worked across Retail, Wealth, and Institutional Banking, partnering with business leaders to strengthen risk management frameworks, support regulatory compliance, and enable sustainable business growth.

Matthew joined ANZ as a graduate after completing a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Auckland. Since then, he has held a range of leadership roles across the bank, most recently leading ANZ's Internal Audit function in Singapore. He is recognised for his pragmatic approach to risk, strong governance expertise, and ability to help organisations navigate complex regulatory and operational challenges.

As a member of the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce Singapore Board, Matthew is passionate about supporting Kiwi businesses, strengthening connections between New Zealand and Singapore, and fostering a vibrant and inclusive community for New Zealanders living and working abroad.

Matthew lives in Singapore with his wife, Jocelyn. Originally from New Zealand, he enjoys maintaining close ties with the Kiwi community and spending his spare time travelling, snowboarding, and playing board and strategy games with friends and family.
